Hm... this is somewhat of a déjà vu... from years ago when I was just starting with Moodle... and so happened to have the knack for landing on problems that were to remain unsolved... thoughtful

and this is how I ended-up becoming a Particularly Helpful Moodler big grin

Yes, this plugin would have been an useful addition to my site, but well, the issue is not really critical at all, so I'll just do without it.

Hi Emma, thanks.

I need the filter because I have one special guest account that allows people to see a sample course (as it has some quizzes, it would not work using the regular guest account), that's why I have that user-0 with Department field empty. I actually started with users without anything at the Department field and when I saw that user-0 was enroled, I then added the filter.

Just to see what'd happen... I:

  • Moved the autoenrol folder outside of moodle.
  • Downloaded the 1.3 release of the plugin.
  • Unpacked it under the moodle enrol folder.
  • Copied the version.php file from the previous release.
  • Retried the tests.

It was almost there, but still didn't make it  black eye

  • Both users got enroled.
  • Group g_ was created and both users were assigned to this group.

As I said, either I am misunderstanding how the plugin is supposed to work; I'm doing something very wrong or how come this issue hasn't been noticed?

As I understand it, two groups should be created: g_a01 and g_b02, user user-1 should be assigned to the first group and user-2 to the second, according to the value each has at its profile Department field.

Just in case any could be a factor behind this:

  • Windows XP 32 bit
  • Apache 2.4.6
  • PHP 5.4.17
  • MySQL 5.5.33

Modifying the code.

However, take into account that Moodle is just following an open standard, so changing the underlying code is definitely not advisable. Besides, users can download their badges and upload them directly to the backpack... I've done that when having problem sending the badge directly from Moodle.

You could just simply convert your current design into a squared image by adding the required top and bottom space, or you could also look for other solutions, like the certificate plugin:
