Have never used the script so can't say for certain, but looks like you've got them correct.   One way to find out!   Do it! (assuming your direct edits of tables will allow)

I thought Google had different requirements now ... port, TLS ... and it certainly has caps ... # of messages relayed in a day.

Now that you've described your issue and what you were up to, yes, makes sense now (not originally).

Comments: over the last year or so I had issues with a Google Compute Engine on CentOS 7 and a couple of sandbox moodles when attempting to use gmail as relay.  As well as a Rackspace sandbox server.  What Google giveth Google can take away ... and they have ... with 'fair warning' (less evil?)

RS at one time had a relationship with mailgun ... but that one required one to putz with DNS to make it work.   Too much trouble!

So went 'shopping' ... found SendGrid to be enough for my needs.

This to suggest maybe you should 'shop around' some more!

Do know this for certain ... use to install/maintain/update mail gateways as well as Linux mail servers (spam/antivirus ... the works).  Don't wanna do that any more!  That's why I have thinning gray hair now! :\  So even if one might have to pay a fee, to me, worth every penny! (as long as there's a freebie 10,000 messages day in front).

Hmmmm ... from a retired educator of 30 years plus ... never understood educators who expect their students to learn something new everyday, excusing themselves from the same thing ... only in IT.  That's food for thought maybe and not meant to insulting at all ... as I have 'been there ... done that'.

Bottom line answer: no

Probably a very good reason ... Google has it's own Classroom.  Why would Google be concerned with how XYZ LMS's (Moodle) interface with their Classoom?   Answer ... they wouldn't.  And that makes perfect sense ... Alphabet is (in their minds) being 'less evil'.

"If anyone would like to volunteer to assist me with an integration ..." personally have been down this road many times.  'Assist' means advise?  or do you mean 'do for' .... ie, you want to be fed fish as opposed to being taught how to fish?

Let's put the shoe on the other foot ... I don't know anything about music and don't want to learn to read music sheets.  I do want you to teach me how to use a Violin so that I can join a well known symphony orchestra.

Again ... not being insulting nor mean ... just wonderin'!

It's been years since I set up a CentOS 7 on GC.  But, like other hosting providers one selects the parameters for building a server from Google's images (they got a bunch).  Trouble with GC is like Amazon ... they have their own terminology for what Rackspace, as an example, would call 'Classic Generation 1', etc.  GC calls something else ... devil is in the details .... take your time and research ... this isn't a rush job is it?

For 5000 8Gig 150Gig drive 4 cores minimal CentOS 7 or Ubuntu 18,04 (pick your own poison there).  Now that could not be enough depending upon what those 5000 will be doing and how - sync or async?  K12-Corp-or JC Small College, etc.  You will have ability to mount a Google bucket as well as set up a data device/drive.

Minimal means you build ... the only thing you get pre-installed is the OS with SSH.   Access ssh via Googles Panel for your project.  It's a terminal in a browser window.

Build from there!  OS repos. You install the combo of your LAMP or LEMP or whatever stack.

Dunno about you but Intel keeps having issues ... AMD doesn't appear to have.

Oh, yeah ... no port 25 out or in so you'll have to set up an SMTP relay.

I also install Webmin.

In looking again at original posting ... user id 2 is the user that initially installed the moodle ... like admin ... what email address do you have for that user?

I have found best to use the moodle servers FQDN for that address.

Example: moodle server FQDN is elearning.somenet.net ... for the admin user I would use admin@elearning.somenet.net

That admin user might actually have an account on that server but it's never used to accept mail ... just send.

That would be one of the many items checked by spam checkers.

The other thing I do ... setup either postfix or sendmail as a sending only server.   All mail leaving the moodle then goes through postfix or sendmail ... whose apps keeps logs on the moodle server itself.   Postfix or Sendmail (just the sending part) could be set up with a 'smarthost' config - which basically is any mail not bound to root or local accounts on the moodle server, goes to 'smarthost' for relay/sorting.

I get to see bounces in logs of postfix or sendmail.

The SMTP host ... the true relay to all other email addresses, I more than likely do NOT have full control over ... your o365 ... my Google ... only logins/password/ports and transport can I set in Moodle or Postfix/Sendmail.

I see Bluehost docs say port 26 ... not 25 .. amazing what one digit off will do ... not do!

And a comment about hosting ... is it better the 'devils' you know, than the 'devils' you don't?

Hosting providers are not known to have *fully disclosing* capabilities ... and many have a lot of promises ... good marketing ... but technically have difficulty delivering.

Even VPS's limit the customer ... and the general thought on VPS's is account holder can do all things ... well, guess what, not 100% true when it comes to DB (devils you don't know).   When it becomes a contest for control, I'd rather have superuser creds for DB and have to put up with annoyance in EMail.   But that's me ... we all choose our own poisons ... and then learn our own antidotes!
