I'm using Moodle 1.9 and would like the results from a "Choice" to appear somehow in the Gradebook.
When you first create the Choice it gives you the option to set a Grade Category - which would seem to imply there's some communication with the Gradebook.
When you go back to edit that Choice, that option no longer appears.
The Choice does not appear as a column in the Gradebook either.
Am I looking at functionality that hasn't been finished yet?
that's a bug - the grade category option shouldn't show on the choice module page. - not sure how adding it to the gradebook would work - could you explain a reason why you would assign a "grade" to someone answering a choice?
are you using it as a mini quiz? - the choice has no current way of selecting which "answer" is "correct" - this is what the quiz module is for!
could you please log a bug in the tracker about the grade category showing when it shouldn't?
Thanks for the reply. The reason I want to get the data into the gradebook is so I can use the gradebook export function.
The current Choice export doesn't include any profile information such as Department, Institution etc. The only place I can export that is from the Gradebook.
I've put the bug report in.
we should probably add more information to the export in the choice then. - I think there's a feature request somewhere in the tracker for that already, it wouldn't be a hard thing to add!
I have used the choice options to create a booking system for parents evening so that I can make use of the limit functionality. As described here http://www.adriaandefraeije.com/blog/2011/11/27/creating-a-booking-system-for-parents-evenings-on-moodle/
BUT I can access each teachers schedule but not the student. If the gradebook could record the results I could export the childs "grades" as the times they have applied for giving them their own schedule.
Any ideas how I can work round this?
We ask employees to check off when they have completed a workshop, using the Choice feature. I would like the gradebook to show the Choice as having been completed, not necessarily with a grade. This would be for a comprehensive view of all assignments / submissions / completion check-offs in one area.
I really like the choice, but there are somethings it just won't do. Perhaps instead of using choice which doesn't show up in the gradebook, you might want to use the quiz which does. Just one question is all that you would have to have. It could be a true/false or multiple choice whatever. I believe all the answers can be set up to be full credit. You might also use the questions as feedback on the workshop if you wanted.
If you do something that needs the limiting of groups in the choice as listed in some of the postings above, have the choice and then have a link to the quiz when they are done. An online text assignment is also a possibility, but would need "teacher" to grade it.
