I need to create a publicly accessibly area of our site that will be basic web pages that don't need to have all of the sidebars that are on the "course" areas. I've created a new web page as a resource, but the sidebar settings are tied to the front page and I'm not able to have them be different.
Is there a way to do this? Are there any other tips on creating "normal" pages that provide information, but do not need all of the Moodle functionality.
Thanks,
Nate Baxley
Using Moodle for public pages

Nate,
Could you create a course with Guest Access, then turn editing on and remove all the side blocks? You could then create your pages as resources and they will be linked from the front page of the course. When creating a web page, one of the advanced settings allows you to not include the course blocks as well.

Sorry for the delay in replying. Wouldn't a book module still require the user to be a part of a public "course". Will a random user be able to get to these pages without enrolling in the course?

No - you can have a 'book' on a guest/open access course. We have several
You can click straight onto them.

Great, I'll give that a try. Thanks!
