Hi all,

i want to back up my moodle and have a couple of questions -

1. i sometimes use Filezilla to FTP stuff to my moodle site (stored on an external server). i back up my other website using this programme just by dragging over my pub_html folder onto an external hard drive. Can the same be done with moodle?

2. if i back up this way, is there any need to use the moodle back up facility too?

Ben,

All you really need is the database and the moodledata folder. Those are the things which make your Moodle site "yours"... unless you have a custom theme or other custom code.
