As David explained, you are probably subscribed to forums (default is if you post, you get subscribed).
Quick way to unsubscribe from all forums is to click the unsubscribe from all link, top right of the Using Moodle page.
If you still want to keep up to date, but want to minimise the emails (one per day), change the "Email digest" setting in you profile (turn on advanced settings) to "Subjects..."
You can also change the default setting there.
