I can't get the date on the certificate to change; it just stays static and users are complaining that the certificate says July 2007! Help. Thanks!

Which Certificate are you using? With the one I'm using (Chardelle's), there is a place to tell it which date to use (end date/date received) and the format you'd like it to be displayed.

I think that's the same one I'm using and in the settings I selected "date received" but for some reason it never displays the date received. Hmm...

Brian,

In fact my question is the same from Deb, because I am trying to fix the problem she has.

Where do I find info about received date? We are using version 1.7.

The course end date can't be set, because the course is on-line and self-paced. There is no end date, we would like to have the date when the certificate is generated to be display on the certificate.

Please help!!!!

Thanks,

Alice

If you click on update this certificate, and scroll down to text options, you will find a pull down screen that asks if you want the certificate date to be the end of the course, or the date received.  If you choose Receive date, the date of the certificate will be the date it is generated by the student.

Chardelle,

The certificate version being used is 20070123 and moodle version is 1.7.1.
I appreciate to get some direction on what to do to fix the certificate date.
Thanks,
Alice

I'm not even sure what that version is.

Please use the certificate download link that is appropriate for your version of Moodle from this page

http://moodle.org/mod/data/view.php?d=13&rid=683

The version for Moodle 1.7+ is 2006101201
The version for Moodle 1.8+ is 2007061303
The version for Moodle 1.9+ is 2008041801

Yes, delete the current one and, referring to my post above, download and install the version appropriate for your Moodle version.

Chardelle,

I deleted the older version and installed the new one (2006101201

), but this one does not have the option to have the certificate conditional to grade as part of the certificate settings.
Is that possible to set up this condition somewhere else? There is the need to have a 70% grade before one can issue the certificate.
Thank you for any lead on this.

Oh yikes. I forgot that the locking code did not get added until the 1.8 version. This gives you a really good excuse to upgrade. My advice is to upgrade both your Moodle and the certificate to 1.9.

Re: Certificate Date Not Updating

by Tony Chilvers -

Certificate version 2008080904
Moodle - 1.9.2 (Build: 20080910)

Has anyone had any success with updating the Date when a user retakes a quiz?

I have also noticed that, if a user retakes a quiz and gets a better grade then although the improved score is correctly displayed on the certificate it doesn't appear on the report of issued certificates and in fact the "reportgrade" field in mdl_certificate_issues is then blank.

Cheers for any help TC
