You can download NanoGong from their site at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST): http://gong.ust.hk/nanogong/moodle.html Fill out the download form and you get a message to your email with the download link. The software is open source.

There is more information about NanoGong and issues related to it to be found in the Voice Applications forum in Moodle for Language Teachers (another Moodle environment in this moodle.org site).

NanoGong is pretty new and since it works with a JAVA applet it has its issues. In addition, since sound files are pretty big (the file size for a full 5-minute NanoGong recording is about 1 Mb), you need to have clear instructions to the users not to use NanoGong unless expressly told to do so by their teacher(s) and you need sufficient disk space in the server to accommodate the files when they start arriving. The files created via the HTML editor all go to the site files folder, so as admin you can keep an eye on it.
