I'll bump this one as well. I'm having the same issue. Changing the initialsubscriptions capability event to prohibit doesn't stop the emails coming in from forum posting. Is this the correct capability to change? The name of it is a bit confusing. Could it be that once you are a member of the course, changing this doesn't help. I've run lots of tests using this, but I keep getting inconsistent results. I could really use some advice here.
