Roles and permissions

Thanks for the reply John. I will try the permissions route and see what happens. It turns out that a teacher on one of our sites came up with something that works. It allows a teacher to see their students posts. I am posting it here in case it may be useful to someone.

I stumbled across this today at the training.

From the homepage click on your name (top right corner)

Click on Messages

Click on Search

Search for a student name, or just type "A" and all appear.

Click on the photo of the student that you want to look at. [not the name]

Click on the Activity reports

Click on "All Logs"

Search for Message write or the students name they are messaging.

You should now see the messages they have sent that person. It also gives you a time/date stamp so you know when,

It looks like this teacher came up with a way to establish site context for the message activity to be shown.

I will likely continue to work on a report the teacher can view and print for all messaging activity in their classes.
