Resource types

I have been able to upload the resource file through administrator>front PAge> site files. When i link this resource in any course as media file it shows only the path to the resource file.

eg: picture1.jpg has been uploaded
when this resource is added to any course page on preview it shows as the path to the image (

My server is linux. Need help in resolving this... looks like my file.php folder is not getting recognized...
