I work for an organization that has approximately 20 physical locations, some with slow Internet links down to 64 K. All locations do have file and print servers, but the IT people do not want to have these servers running applications and therefore Moodle cannot be installed locally. Besides, that would mean serious Moodle administering.
We are using Moodle to run Microsoft SCORM and our gut feeling is that the SCORM will be painfully slow over the 64 K links, although the rest of the Moodle process, such as logging in and browsing the courses, should be fine.
If each location is taken as a Moodle site, we would like to configure a multiple site Moodle installation such that there is one code-base and database on a central server and the data folder is located at the various sites to overcome the slow links.
I’ve had a look through the forums and the multiple site installations talked about tend to focus on having the data folder on a central server. Has anyone done an installation of multiple sites and data folders with a central code-base and database?
