specing servers and DMZ

Hi all,

Looking for some help to spec servers for moodle. Our network manager is off and we need to get one ordered soon. Please bare with me as im not up on server technology. From what I gather out technicians would like 2 servers for running moodle on one for the front end that goes in the DMZ and the other for holding the database that is behind the DMZ is that correct? (we need students to connect from outside college to)
Going from out stats on fronter we have 250 rooms (courses) and 5150 users. I think the most users we have had on at one time is 611 though that seems a bit high, id say 250 would be more realistic estimate.

I have had a few user giving me guidence.

Also do i need 2 servers to run one in and one behind the DMZ.

(sorry that i dont know much server stuff)

You don't _need_ two. By dividing work, Webserver on one database-server on the other, two can deliver more. Where to put them - Internet, DMZ, LAN - is a matter of (subjectively felt) security and network performance.
