40 GB Drive
This will be a small first-time rollout- 450 students, 50-60 teachers
100 concurrent users

I am doing a demonstration server on a Intel centrino laptop with a 626 Mhz processor and 256 ram, it can handle about 3 concurrent connections.
So I would say that you will do fin but I would make the cpu a bit stronger.
100 is allot of requests per second if you don't have a separate MySQL server.
Though mine is a older machine and doesn't handle multi-threading so you may have some advantages that I don't...

Its actually a duel 1.4 GHz, is that a sufficient processor you think?

I think that a dual Core CPU will be great, same with having a dual CPU system.
Either one would suffice, and I think its 50 users per 1 gb of ram I think(There is a page telling you about this but it is forgotten by me), but me thinks this is for the DB background information. Since my setup hardly uses the CPU till all the MySQL stuff is done loading...
