Backup and restore

I downloaded my backup files from Moodle 1.8 and I tried to restore to another site in Moodle 1.9.

But I am not able to do so. I get the following error message.

• Creating new course
  • Pre IB Science (PreIBSci)
  • Category: Pre IB
• Creating the Restorelog.html in the course backup folder
• Creating users
  XML error: Invalid character at line 7132

Can anyone help me please?
