I've been reading it but don't see a reference to the main menu ... I did a search on the words "main menu" but nothing came up.
You're right. The documentation doesn't have an article on the Main Menu block. I guess it's an undocumented feature! But I do know that it is only available on the front page
.I see where I can select "courses" from the "blocks" pulldown menu in the sticky blocks section of admin. But Main Menu isn't listed in that pulldown menu. How can I make that Main Menu block sticky?
Right. That's because the Main Menu block is only available for the front page of the site (in fact, the technical name of the block is "site main menu"). I don't understand why you can't have a Main Menu on course pages. There is certainly some obscure technical reason. You're not the first person to ask for this -- see MDL-4138
. Bottom line: Main Menu can't be made sticky because only blocks that can appear on a course page can be made sticky. If I go to ... Home > Resources > Our Story > Editing Resource > Window > check "Show the course blocks" checkbox ...
The checkbox causes your resource page to have the same
blocks as the main course page. You can't configure them independently of the main course page. That explains why you are also getting the Description block. This is not a solution.
Maybe you should explain how you're using the Main Menu block, and maybe we can suggest an alternative.
I'm happy to help if I can, but I think you're up against a fundamental limitation of Moodle. Keep posting questions. Maybe next time you'll have more success
