There is a problem of sending of messages for email in some Forums. Just in some Forums. Not in all. In some the messages are sent, in other no.
Why will be? The configurations seem to be the same ones.
Is there some relationship with RSS?

Well, you need to subscribe to each forum individually ... that's the only reason I can think of.

But I forced the subscription of all and I signed myself, as teacher, particularly. My intention is that the students remove the subscription of the forum that there is no interest.
The one that happens is that: in the same course, the participants receive the messages of the forums of the topic zero, but the messages of the forum of the topic 1 are not distributed.
I observe this in the log of the cron shot manually. The messages of the forum of the topic 1 are not sent for anybody. Nor for me even.
Try, you do shoot the cron:

Try several times with some intervals of hours.
There are messages no sent for anybody, according to the log.
While, other, they are usually sent.
Is this a mistery?

That is of the version 1.3.1. In the version 1.3.0 there was not that problem.
I am downloding the version "last night" and to install.
If it doesn't work I will have that you return to the version 1.3.0.

Sorry, I'm not aware of any problems ... Moodle 1.3.1 is working fine on lots of sites (including this one) ...
Perhaps file became corrupted in your upgrade? Possibly the database needs repairing?

Well, you can use the MySQL Admin module (see the modules download page) to repair the database ... click on the database name, select all the tables and choose "repair" from the menu at the bottom.
I'd also recommend replacing all your files with a fresh copy (keeping only the config.php you created). You won't lose any actual data in your courses since these are in the moodledata folder and in the database.

I will install the module now and I will try the repair. We are still with few courses. I am thinking about doing a migration for a new server in July, and to do a new installation "clean" starting from the version 1.3.1.
My concern is not to lose the messages of the forums and the participants' registrations. The ideal is that that transfer happens in a transparent way for the participants. I still don't have a lot of experience in the use of PHPAdmin. I don't know if it is possible to do a save in a server and to recover it in other. I never made that. But it is a thing to learn.

Everything did that you suggested. I got right BD with PHPAdmin, like you suggested. I made uploading of all of the files of the version 1.3.1.
I run the "cron" manually and it resulted in the log that I paste below.
Observe that the message 788 was not sent for anybody. This message was posted in a new course. Why, my God?
However, observe also that the message 789 was sent for 37 users. The message 789 is of a different course that the message 788. Then... the system is sending messages.
The subject is that I believe to have configured the two courses and the two way forums exactly equal. Will it be that I make a mistake?
What should I check to discover what is causing this problem?

Then I began to move in the configurations... I moved in a lot of thing of the configurations of courses and of the general parammeters.
It ended up working... the system started to work usually.
Now the only thing that lacks to do to work is the "cron." I am shooting it manually. In spite of being configured in CPanel.

some messages are sent to the users, and others the cron.php just say "processing ..." but don't shows the number of users is sending the the message...
any idea ?

I believe that the problem is in the configuration of the lenght of the it file atach.
That was one of the things that altered the configuration. Now it is everything OK.
If you put a configuration of file attach very small, the system is impeded of sending the messages in the format html.
I believe that there is the charade.

I am having problems with one of my courses not sending out emails.
I am not sure why.
At first I thought that perhaps it was because I was setting my mail address (of the teacher) to a mail address other than my university address and that that address was not getting past the firewall. But even though now I have changed my email address to the one that I use at university, the server is still not sending out email from ONE of my course forums. This not a problem with being subscribed because the forum in question is the news forum.
I do not see a setting for changing the length of file attachements.

Now the system here is running OK! The world is beautifull!!!
I don't know as doing to work under firewall.
You can finds the settings to change the size of the attachments in:

My problem was not a problem at all. I had just forgotten to set up a cron job. I am a stupid pig. Tim
