I would like to set a chat room up so that kids can get access to it for an hour a day, is this possible? I don't want them using it during the day in school as it is a distraction and I don't want them on it all night either so is there any way I can limit the time a chat room is open for?
That's amazing that you're asking the same question that I just got asked today. We're having the same problem!!!! HELP US!!!
I have been having major problems with Chat. It is kicking participants out all the time. It seems to happen with as few as 5 participants. I have no clue what to do about it.
John, did you ever figure out why your moodle chat was kicking participants out? Ours is doing the same thing
I agree that it is better they chat there, I would just like to have some control over it if possible. For example to switch it off during school time so they're working rather than chatting.
It might have such option. Plus if you are running a larger site it is more scalable (as it is using Jabber). Hope this helps...
The strange thing is....i thought i remembered this being an option in earlier Moodle versions.
Using another messenger is not an option.
Hope someone spots this to help!
Hi! I am new here, and am hoping to bump this question back to the top of discussion. I too am looking at ways of turning chat off, but opening it routinely once a week for students to access the lecturer in their course. Does anybody know how to do this? All I can figure is you could enable the feature to be 'visible' and then 'hidden' after the time period, but that requires access every week to change it all again, which is very inefficient.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
The Restrict Access settings are the only ones I can see as well.
