In 1.8.2 the backup and restore function brings files into new course folder but links to images/audio/video files remain tied to the original course files in the original course folder.
When a student opens a page, the images are not there. When he clicks on a link to an audio or video file in an activity in the newly restored or imported course, the system recognizes that the student is trying to load a file from the original course. If the student is not enrolled in the original course (as most will not be) the system tells them so. When they cannot see the images or access the audiolink/video they ring the teacher.
It is not a problem an administrator or course creator is aware of when they restore a course because they are authorized to see the previous course files. So when they check a link in an activity, everything looks fine until all the students start complaining.
To correct this problem, we manually edit the folder reference number in every link in every activity in every course we restored. It seemed to be a solution, until we found that the activity we were editing was in the olriginal course. In fact we could not edit the activity directly in the new course. Students can now see the images, access the audio and video files in the new course, but the folder reference numbers in the original course have changed.
Has anyone found a solution to this problem?
