I'm glad to hear that you got it working. If the module/block that you install has to create new tables in the database then I am pretty sure that you need to visit the 'notification' area just once after you have installed the module/block. You will then normally see a bunch of messages about tables being written to your database followed by "success" in green lettering (I think) and then a message at the bottom of the screen telling you that everything was set up correctly. Unless, of course, there were any errors during the process.
I'm almost always getting help here on the forums instead of giving it so it's nice to be someone's hero once in a while
