We're planning another developer meeting (long overdue, I know ) to provide the opportunity for us to about what we're all doing.
The meeting will be at 11pm GMT (you can find your time using the fixed time world clock) on one of these days: Monday 25, Tuesday 26, Wednesday 27 or Thursday 28 February 2008. If you have a preference, or can't make a particular day, please say so, then we can decide on the best day for most people.
We'll be making use of the Elluminate Moodle Developers Meeting Room again, thanks to Bryan Williams of Remote-Learner.net.
Everyone is welcome, though developers with CVS write access will be given preference if the room becomes full.
Please add items to the meeting agenda here: http://docs.moodle.org/en/Developer_meeting_February_2008
and thank you for planning the meeting! I would love to join this midnight session I vote +1 for Wednesday 27 or Thursday 28 and -1 for Monday 25.
Hopefully see you
Thanks for planning this meeting
I am developing moodle code for a short time (with my new peer module) and very interested in the subjects that will be discussed and will listen carefully what is going on.
In Austria (central Europe) I will join the meeting at midnight. On 28 February I have to rise with the sun, so February 27 23:00 GMT is not ideal for me. The other days I can sleep as long as I wish
I am looking forward to the meeting,
Andi Söllei (peerlight maintainer)
It seems that 11pm GMT on Thursday 28 February 2008 is the most suitable time for the meeting. Please see the Moodle Developer Meeting calendar entry for conversion into your time zone.
The meeting will be recorded (assuming we remember to do so ) and I will be taking meeting minutes, for anyone who is unable to make it.
Please keep adding items to the meeting agenda here: http://docs.moodle.org/en/Developer_meeting_February_2008.
I am going to try and join the Developer Meeting for the first time. But I have not found any info on how can one get User ID at Elluminate Live! system. Is some registration needed? Thank you for any help and sorry if I miss something obvious.
David, you can check out the meeting room at any time - simply follow this link: Elluminate Moodle Developers Meeting Room then login using your name and password moodle.
I'll probably turn up about half an hour early for the meeting on Thursday 28 February to have a play with some of the Elluminate features. Anyone is welcome to join me then!
Couldn't resist trying to get in the room now.. but my name and password 'moodle' won't let me in. There obviously something I don't know... (but what is it?)
Thanks for testing meeting room access. I don't know why you can't get in either. Fortunately we've plenty of time though, to get the problem sorted before the actual meeting time.
I have managed to get in. Please note, the message at the login page is a little bit confusing:
If you did not receive a login or a password from the meeting creator, simply type in your first and last name for Login Name, leave Password blank, and click "Log In"
Using password "moodle" works. I do not Java Web Start installed at the moment so I can not open the meeting.jnlp yet.
Note that the password is case sensitive. So the error may be that people are typing Moodle rather than moodle.
At least that was my error.
I will be attending! (hopefully, there will be room)
I Tried logging in before without success ; however, it is now working.
I would like to briefly describe the latest developments of the HotPot module.
Looking forward to it,
I am sorry ! I will not be able to make the meeting. I will be in transient to the state science symposium.
Well if there is a room for me I would be interested to participate too (just to know whether I won a bugathon prize or not - again just kidding).
Well Helen I hope that you don't mind that I added a item to the meeting agenda, which is "How to write a good bug report." I found that there are still a lot of bugs in the moodle bug tracker that was not communicated clearly. Maybe we could brainstorm a little bit about how to help people file a better bug report, workflow issues, etc. This could possibly save developers a lot of time in the long run. Again just my 2 cents.
I thought you were still up at that time busily coding and hacking away (like we all do
I'll try to be there too.
I usually go to bed at 23h and get up at 6:30 ... my wife will kill me if I start talking aloud at home at 2 am... I'll need a full body armor :-s
Rotating TZs is quite fair, I have to say.
I hope you will squeeze a 'old time' Moodler like me in the meeting too
Thank you -
the meeting you are planning is to draw the road map of Moodle 2.0.
May I ask to add to your plan the feature requested in MDL-9738?
Thank you in advance.
Il be there too.
Just a reminder that the Moodle Developer Meeting is in less than 12 hours time on Thursday 28 February 2008 at 11pm GMT (see the Moodle Developer Meeting calendar entry for conversion into your time zone).
It's great to hear that so many of you can make it!
To attend the meeting, follow this link: Elluminate Moodle Developers Meeting Room and login using your name and password moodle.
As I mentioned before, I'm going to turn up about half an hour early and have a play with some of the Elluminate features. Anyone is welcome to join me and check their audio etc.
During the meeting, I will be making notes in a Skype chat window. In previous meetings, certain developers who speak English as a second language found it helpful to be able to follow what was said in the meeting by reading my Skype chat notes i.e. have meeting subtitles. If you'd like to be added to this Skype chat too, please let me know.
Helen, I'd like to be added to the skype chat.
Is there enough room for me to just show up and listen in (if I have chance...)?
Will you be publishing the Skype chat logs?
Most likely there will be room for everyone. You're welcome to come and listen. My Skype chat notes will be written up in the documentation wiki as meeting minutes.
I guess there's no need to add you to the skype chat, as your English is perfect!
Posting my apologies - I'll be in transit during the meeting. Hope it all goes well.
I'm sorry I couldn't make it in the end. A migraine got in the way! Combined with the hour of the day I would have made even less sense than usual.
I hope it was productive, I'll no doubt get to hear.
I couldn't make it either . It was a really long day and I wasn't able to stay awake longer than 23:30. I'll wait for the minutes eagerly
I was there, and it was really exciting. Elluminate desktop worked worthfully and the meeting has real social and technical value.
Every two month could let plan detailed subjects every one could need to have a community quick oversight. It could enhance our developpers and module designers decision-making relevance.
Yes Nicolas, read carefully notes : you were nominee here !!
I think they have not been frequent enough up to now. Also, if there were a few more of them, they probably would not have to last so long, which would be good for those who are unlucky with the time zone choice.
I think two months is a good rate. I though yesterday's conference (despite a few streaming glitches) was very worthwhile. Without meaning to sound too saccharine, it brings people together and enforces the concept of community.
February 2008 developer meeting minutes are now available here: http://docs.moodle.org/en/Developer_meeting_February_2008.
If you notice anything I've missed or got wrong (quite likely, considering the hour!) please edit the page. Thanks to Nicolas Connault for helping write Skype notes.
I'm glad to hear that 2-month frequency for developer meetings meets with everyone's approval. I promise that the next meeting, scheduled for late April 2008, will be held at a more sociable time for people in Europe!
