ALL Auto linking stopped working...SOLVED

Last week auto-linking worked now both 1.9 and 1.8.4 stopped working.  I downloaded the latest versions today and noticed all auto-linking has stopped.

Any ideas?

P.S.

I figured out what happened - with a new install of Moodle I forgot to turn the auto-linking filter on. 

So problem solved.  It really should default to auto linking.

I tend to agree. However you must realize that it is quite impossible to reach a common consensus on the question of the default settings.
