We use Moodle 1.8.2 and notice that there is no export file such as Excel file from the assignment's grade result.
Am I missing something? is there a way to do it

When you export, export from the gradebook. All your assignment results will be there. I do not believe there is a way to export the results for a single assignment or from the assignments page directly.
