where to change the text "No courses in this category"

where to change the text "No courses in this category"

"No courses in this category" is displayed when a student selects a category that has no courses in it.

I've looked through the language settings and cannot locate this.  Can someone give me an idea of where to find this text to change it?

You need to edit the language pack. Assuming you're using moodle 1.8.x, here's the procedure:

  1. log in as admin
  2. from the site administration menu, select Language and then Language editing
  3. click Edit words or phrases
  4. you'll see a long list of php files - click moodle.php
  5. you may want to click the switch lang directory button - the text above the button will change from Save file into folder :en_utf8 to Save file into folder :en_utf8_local. This will create a new, local moodle.php file; the advantage of doing this is that when you upgrade your moodle later, you will not lose your changes.
  6. scroll down until you find the language string you want to change (No courses in this category) - on the right there's a text box where you type in whatever you want instead of this text.
  7. click save changes: moodle.php
