View a php resource file as XHTML rather than plain text

Rather than keep repetitive code in numerous XHTML files, I've decided utilizing php "include" functionality would be a better approach.

I'm running a Moodle 1.6 system with the PHP files in the "Course Files" section of the respective courses. When I try the "add file or website link" resource implementation, the resulting link displays the content of the PHP file in plain text rather than actually including the files specified.

Is it possible to change this setting through the GUI?
