changing the automated email message when posting to a forum

Our university uses its own portal to give us access to moodle. Consequently, the email message that is sent out when a posting is made to a forum is incorrect and confuses recipients. Is there any way to change the automated email message to indicate to recipients that they have to go through their portal to respond to the forum message?
