Billy,

I can't resist some shameless self-promotion on this issue, and hope it will not be perceived as spam as it directly pertains to your question.

I was in your position some years ago (I teach Composition courses online), so I invented something, T.A. Toolbar, to do just what you're asking for. If you're using Word 2003, it can, with the click of a button, insert comments on oft-repeated writing errors. It's not a Moodle plug-in, but it can work with Moodle if you ask your students to deliver (upload) their work as either MS Word or as .rtf (rich text format) documents. Fair warning: this became a commercial enterprise for me even though I'm full-time faculty at a community college--so there's a little money involved ($40). Perhaps your department will buy it for you.

Check it out at www.tatoolbar.com. There's a little video tour.

A stand-alone version of T.A. Toolbar that will work with Word 2007 is in the works. BTW, if you want to run Word 2003 and 2007 at the same time, email me off-list and I'll explain how to do that.
