Trying to import questions into a quiz using the GIFT format but always get an error.

File could not be read, or was empty

Error occurred during processing!

This is even using the example file attached.
I tried initially using 1.2.1, upgraded to 1.3 today but still have the problem.

Would love any ideas on how to diagnose???

Dear Peter Honan,
I got

Importing 42 questions
As expected.

Perhaps some kind of server permissions thing, at either the input or output(storage) end.
input ) Where is the file? In your computer or somewhere on the server or web? If the web then there may be access problems.
output/storage) Can you upload other files, to the files section of your courses? If not then you may not have apache set up correctly or more likely, your apache/moodle does not have permission to access your moodle installations' data directory. The simplest error is not having set the data directory permissions to er 755? or something it is in the documentation.

All other file uploads go OK mixed, tried upload from network and local drives.

still noooo..................oops, try before you type.

Turns out your the man wink, PHP temp file location is defaulted to system "tmp".

On 2K3 this must be secured a bit tight, specified another folder in php.ini and solved the problem.

Thanks big grin

P.S. Running on IIS / W2K3 / PHP 4.3.4 (ISAPI)
