Hi,

Can anyone tell me why Moodle slows down (30secs to load front page) when I enable the RSS Feed Block?

As soon I disable it the front page loads in 2 seconds! I haven't even got to adding the RSS feed address yet..just enabled the block.

Moodle 1.82
MySQL 5.2.1
PHP 4.1.16nt
IIS 6.0 Windows 2003 Server

Any ideas much appreciated.

Hello Steve,

It has nothing to do with your server, it is a known Moodle bug that should be fixed in the upcoming 1.9.

Maybe you can vote for a backport to the latest 1.8 in the tracker?

Hi Hans,

Thanks for the quick response. The problem you logged in the tracker does seem to match mine and I'm glad to see it has a solution. Backporting to 1.8 would be a good idea.

No doubt I'll bump into you at Moodlemoot UK if you get there.
