I use a "fakestudent" account whenever the urge to see what a student is really seeing comes upon me and "log in as student" fails.
I've made my teachers aware of this account and its password so that they may do the same. That way, no one ever sees a friend "online" in our Moodle site, when it is just me masquerading as that person by having used "log in as."
