I am reworking the enrol/database plugin and I am hoping to land in 1.9 if we are on time, or soon after (perhaps 1.9.x). Also - I'm working on a course-mapping feature that might appear as a separate plugin that interacts with the main enrol/database plugin.
Would be great to hear from people using/patching/developing this plugin
A bit like in this http://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=80104 thread, I am working on a branch in repo.or.cz called mdl19-enroldb .
You can see it at http://repo.or.cz/w/moodle-pu.git?a=log;h=mdl19-enroldb You can see this post with notes on how to get a checkout http://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=80104#p355967

As you already know, we (Mondragon Unibertsitatea) are developing some extensions to the plugin. They are based on my initial patches (http://orodruin.escomposlinux.org/~iarenaza/moodle/enrol_database/), but have recently added automatic course creation from templates (with full course clone).
So I'll be around
I'm sure we can merge both to have a single preset template (my patch) or an extra table from which we pull a specific template "shortname" or path to a zipfile. And if the field is empty, the "preset" template can be the fallback. Can the student you are working with help merge them both?
The other thing I am working on is a databasemap plugin that interops with the database plugin, allowing an admin to say "all these courses in the backend map to a single course in moodle". That's on a separate branch I'll make public later...
Can the student you are working with help merge them both?
I've asked her to do it (and she's agreed ). But she's trying to fix the Oracle cursors thing first, as we need to have course auto-creation (with restoration from templates) working by the end of the week
