We, like many others, are a major institution with a large online presence and investment in WebCT. We're considering moodle but here are our primary concerns... can anyone shed some light on these issues?
- Moodle supporting WebCT Epacks: Our university (along with many others) has become reliant on WebCT Epacks. I know that moodle supports SCORM but I don't think that WebCT does. Basically an Epack is a WebCT backup of a fully-developed course that is sold through the publishers as supplements to their books. We can't drop support for epacks so how could we port them into Moodle?
- Where can we find full-blown serious "gonna be there when we need you" technical support. I emailed the fellow at moodle.com last week and still have yet to hear back from him. This is a major issue for us.
- How large of an installation is successfully running? We've got a pretty large WebCT installation at the moment (over 20,000 accounts with at least 3000 of them being used daily). Does moodle support any sort of load-balancing among several computers?
