I've read through many of the posts on here, and have a rough idea of the spec we require. We're aiming for 1500 users, 400 concurrant "quiz users".
Topics such as "300 users running on one server!" have encouraged me to look at multiple server setups. The concensus (if I'm reading it right) is to split the Database server up from the Webserver/Moodle data.
What would this mean for the Server specs? If originally I was aiming for a single server with 8Gb RAM, would the 2 server model then be fine with 4Gb? I'm hoping people who have had more chance to trial/run Moodle in production environments may be able to provide some answers.
Clearly its worth overspeccing for the future, as far as the budget will allow, but I dont want to waste cash. Are things like Dual Quad core processors just overkill?
Thanks in advance,
Rey
