Glossary error message "duplicate categories"

I currently have a few secondary glossaries set up in two separate courses.  While setting up a main glossary for one course, I started to create the categories, and got this error message.

duplicatedcategory

There are currently no categories which have been duplicated.  If there were I deleted the categories from that glossary.  Does anyone know a fix for this?  I haven't seen any discussions on this topic.  Any help is appreciated.
