Need to back up to external directory (Mod. 1.8) ?

Hi,
I am on moodle 1.8 and I am trying to back-up a course into an external folder.
All I can do now is save within the course directories. Can anyone tell me how I can set up the backup so that it saves the file to a folder on my hard disk.

I have looked at the documentation and it states that I need to find the automated setting functions and at this location I will be given the right to choose where to save it. I cannot find this?

Thanks

Albert

In 1.8 an alternate backup directory can be specified in Site administration -> Courses -> Backups -> Save to. Unfortunately, the chosen directory must be a directory in moodledata (i.e., under your $CFG->dataroot).

Hi,
Thanks-for your reply John, but...

Does this mean that I need to ask the site administrator to do this? If he does do this the data must remain on the same server?

I am at a university and we are piloting Moodle. I had to relinquish site administration duties.
