I have written a little block that provides links to the individual weeks. Once there is an established way for submitting user-contributed blocks, I will send it in.

Fantastic, I was just thinking about this *) because I removed the weeks overview title bar that did contain your previous solution to save space on the screen for the sections. Can't you place it in the cvs for blocks? ( or attach as zip for the moment?)
Could also work in topics format?
The bold topic has the bulbe light on?

Yes, Ger has been lobbying for this feature for quite some time now. I 've been thinking of how and to where to show something like that in the monthly view block, but I 'm not really sure it should even go there, considering that the block may not be used in all courses.
I think it would be all right to check it in, Gustav. Many people might find it useful, and if so, then we can give it "on by default" status.

O.k., I will extend it to a 'Weeks/Topics' block and then check it in.

O.k. Jon, I have checked the block into CVS. It now works in both topics format and weeks format.

I just renamed the block to "section_links" from "weeks_topics" so it can grow to suit future formats.

Ger, that is a short question. But what does it mean? The Weeks block has a "Jump to current week" link and is used in a course with weeks format and the Topics block has a "Jump to current topic" and is used in a course with topics format. The block is unavailable in the social format.

Someone advised me to make shorter messages in the forums. I did not look yet in the blockcode...
In social view you could create a jump to a recent activity overview of that specific forum, like we now have on the frontpage of Using Moodle?

Just tried it on today's 'official' 1.3 beta release: love it...works on a current course,
BUT
does not work on an old course (i.e. 1 where last week was in 2003) - click on individual week links and nothing happens

It works on my old courses, even the ones that ended in 2003. Could you email me the source of the page on which the links are not working? Maybe that gives me some idea what might be going wrong.

Maybe the "old course" is in an installation that isn't up-to-date enough to have the anchors you added in the course view? That seems most likely.

Perhaps I was expecting something else - it works fine if all of the weeks are showing;
it doesn't work if only a single week is showing - so I was expecting it to have the same effect as the pull down menu when only 1 week is showing...

It should be working even if you have focused on one week: when clicking on the link to a different week it should reload the page with all weeks showing and jump to the clicked week. If it doesn't then please send me the source of the html page on which the links are not working.

I would have thought the more logical operation in this case would be to reload the page with the "new" week/topic as the focus rather than showing all the weeks/topics?
