This is a simpler version of course menu block, developed to work with 1.7 and 1.8 with role capabilities and new administration functions. After using the course menu block user feedback suggested the tree menu with truncation of text was confusing. Subsequently this was developed to provide simple menu navigation bewteen sections without jumping directly into resources.
While it strips tags from summaries it doesn't truncate, so long descriptions should be moved to labels to handle this effectively. There is also a capability viewcontrolpanel attached with this.
We have renamed the block Course navigation (course_nav) to avoid conflicts if you wish to compare the two on a single system.
