Add a Resource/Activity option missing

I just upgraded Moodle from 1.7 to 1.8 on July 3rd.  Everything seemed to go fine during the installation process.

When I'm in a course and go into edit mode, the menus for adding a resource or an activity aren't there.

Anyone else experience this?  I'll probably revert back to 1.7 if there isn't a solution available.

Are you perhaps experiencing the "turn editing on" problem?
Take a look here and see if any of these sound like they might shed some light on your problem.

Question:  Is there any easy way to determine which blocks are standard (come with Moodle) and/or which blocks are 3rd party ones?
