Hi, I've moodle 1.6 working correctly in Debian sarge.
The problem I have is that when I create users and courses and assign the users the rol of student, when they log the platform and try to acces the courses I've enrolled them, a window appears saying "this course is not currently available to students".
If I assign the role of teache to the users they can access the course
The start date of the course is correct.
Any idea?

in moodle 1.6 there is a setting in the course (course/administration/settings/availability) that you can say 'course available to students' / 'course not available to students'.
It may be worth checking that this is set to allow them in.

Thank you for your help, but I've this setting OK, that is, course available to students.
In fact if I had had course not available to students, they weren't able to see the course, and they are able to see it.
I think there must be an internal problem of the moodle installation but I don't know what problem.
