We are trying to transfer some of our on the ground trainings to an online environment. The trouble I'm running into is that we have trainings that must be taken every year and trying to track those within Moodle. We could create courses for each year, say on Jan 1st of each year and have it last for a year but then looking back at records for trainings done will be time consuming.
Is there anyone else that has to do yearly trainings/courses for the same people each year? If so, what is your method of doing this?
Any input on our situation would be helpful. Thanks.
We are using Conditional Activities (Activity Locking) and Certificate Plug-ins to provide yearly training. The Certificate plug-in allows you to view issued certificates. This provides a list of names and the date each certificate was awarded.
If the training is the same each year, you could back-up the course (without the Certificate Data) and restore it to a new course. So back up the 2007 course and restore it to the new 2008 course.
Once the Certificate is issued, it has been issued. You would need to back up the course without the User data, and restore the course as a New course. In the new course the certificate will have a different ID.
In the new course the students would need to meet whatever requirements you originally set up with Conditional Activities (Activity Locking) in the old course. But you can change the Conditional Activities in the new course if you like.
If my understanding is true, this method would make it difficult to see a record of all certificates given for all years. You would have to go into each course to view the given certificates, would you not?
I'm trying to get the courses so that I could go in and see a single list of all certificates give in all years, then be able to filter from there.
