I have just set up a forum (A single simple discussion) in a course with the force separate groups option on.
However, only students who are not in any groups can reply to my initial post.
If I change the course setting to no groups then all students can reply.
The course has a large number of students and is unmanageable for the purposes I want.
Am I setting it up wrong or is this a bug? If I am setting it up wrong then how do I do it?
Can I set up any permissions to ensure that the students can post (I had a quick look but didn't see anything obvious)?
I am using moodle 1.8.1+ but I only upgraded to this today. The same effect was happening in version 1.5.2+
