I upgraded our production server today from 1.6+ to 1.8+ and am noticing that it takes nearly 60 seconds to load the assignment page (/mod/assignment/index.php). I had read about some performance issues in 1.8 but was wondering if there is anything in particular that folks are aware of or if they are seeing something similar. Thanks.
p.s. Watching top shows that the apache2 process is taking up a substantial amount of cpu 63%.

I have created MDL-9948 to deal with the poor performance of loading /mod/assignment/index.php with Moodle 18STABLE from CVS. Performance info shows:

I'm running on a Ubuntu 6.06 (Linux 2.6.15-28-386), Apache 2.0.55, MySQL 5.0.22, PHP 5.1.2. with APC 3.0.14.
