In Europe, attempts are being made to legalise software patents. For Moodle developers, investors and users alike, this directive could mean legal uncertainty:
a patent minefield, making software innovation a dangerous enterprise.
This new push by the European Council of Ministers ignores the European Parliament's democratic decision of September 24 2003, which was very widely supported.
