After a update nightmare (we did the dump of the wrong database and lost one month of work) I got more interested in the way Moodle does it's backups.
One of the things that called my attention was the message after the installation of the Moodle update that says that the database as been saved up successfully.
Does this mean that when we do a update, Moodle does its own automatic backup of the database (on updates to 1.7 or 1.8)? or (which I'm afraid is the only true) this means that it has managed to put the database in a new format and all was ok?
