PS OK, just tried that, but it did not work. The plug in allows the tool bar to be hidden, but that did not help matters. Perhaps I could change something in the Moodle file so that the summary would appear lower in the page? Using Safari on OS 10.3.3. Will try with another browser.
PPS D'oh! Do not open the resource file in new window and all is well again. Maybe size does not matter! I also noticed that the bar separating the summary from the actual resource file is adjustable. Nice feature.
