I work at a Pre K-12 school, and our youngest users are in the 2nd grade. In general, the teachers add links to websites so that students know where to go to view information. My daughter is in that class, and it's interesting to see her want to "go on moodle" from home to look around the websites her teachers have selected. My colleague is the lower school technology coordinator and has fabulous ideas. I'm going to try to get her to login to this site to join this discussion. She will be a much bigger help than I am. My information is just as a parent.
i'm gonna be a teacher in two years, at present i have to do two years of training in school (we call this referendariat in germany). We have to do some scientific work about some inovations in our school, so i decided to introduce moodle in our school.
I will use the easter-holidays to develop a course about developing reading skills in 2nd grade (7-8 year old), so i can test it in may. I will post the experience of my students than
I work with young pupils with special needs & learning difficulties. I use a lot of learning games and "hot-potatoes" for testing.
I've a few free games suitable for use in Moodle on my test site www.manxman.ch/moodle . Any feedback is welcome.

I know Camelsdale school near here have used it with their Reception class (age 5), with parents typing forum contributions on behalf of the pupils.
