Yes, I got a work-around to load a previous attempt by inserting a couple lines of code to set the $lastattemptid.

It means I still need to attempt the quiz at least once (and answering at least the threshold percentage number of the questions correctly). When I understand the rest of the attempt.php code better (and have more time), I might look for a better way.

By the way, do you know if anyone has already created a Course Completion block that grades the students according to their quiz results, and other activities, i.e. accessing resource files, a teacher assigned grade, etc.
