Students on a Course repeatedly asked to get enrolled (become unenrolled?)

1. I create a user manually.

2. Go to my course and from the Administration block click Assign Roles. Add the new user to the students list.

3. When the user logs in some of the content is not visible (the course is accessible for the guests but, say, quizzes cannot be seen by these students). No “Enroll me in this course” link is visible either. If the page is refreshed – the link appears and when it is clicked – all works fine.

4. The user leaves the site and the next time the story is the same. He/she appears to be unenrolled. All the while, the user is in the students’ list for the course.

This does not happen to teachers or admins, only students.

Any ideas? I am confused.
