I need the groups assistance. I have an installation problem concerning moodles connection to smtp mail. I am a new user and explorer of Moodle. To date I have been very impressed.
A little bit about my config the server running moodle is located behind a Linksys broadband router which provides connections for my home network. The broadband router IP furnished by the provider is static, and the private network IP number assigned to the server is static. I have configured the broadband router for forwarding on port 25 & 110.
I am running moodle on a Windows 2003 server (http://www.bgfrog.com/moodle/ ) and I did the entire installation using the EasyPHP program, and then have manually tweaked the few things that gave me an issue. I am not using IIS for more than POP3/SMTP, no web services these are all provided by my Apache installation.
My issue arises when new users register and an email is sent to them for confirmation. My server has a MX entry for mail in DNS; MS-POP3/SMTP has been installed and configured; I have run several tests from the command line with telnet to port 25, then sending email from the server to outside networks no problems. My smtp server is configured to only allow connections from localhost (127.0.0.1) so that only moodle (which is on this machine) is allowed to originate and receive email.
I have setup the config page for email to reflect both localhost, and then 127.0.0.1 with appropriate userids and passwords. No luck.
Could someone please give me a few suggestions. Thanks in advance.
