I try the following to write mittlere Änderungsrate

$$$ mittlere\;\"Anderungsrate =\frac {f(b)-f(a)}{b-a} $$$

but this does not work

$$ mittlere\;\"Anderungsrate =\frac {f(b)-f(a)}{b-a} $$

Is somebody able to help me?

It appears that mimeTeX doesn't implement the \" TeX command.

Try using $$\text{mittlere Änderungsrate}=\frac{f(b)-f(a)}{b-a}$$

$$\text{mittlere Änderungsrate}=\frac{f(b)-f(a)}{b-a}$$

Davide

Try using $$\text{mittlere Änderungsrate}=\frac{f(b)-f(a)}{b-a}$$

$$\text{mittlere Änderungsrate}=\frac{f(b)-f(a)}{b-a}$$

\" is not valid in math mode and putting a \text{} around it doesn't seem to help in mimetex so perhaps use the Ä html entity
